The Library was established in the late 1980s. We are proud of our books on Finnish history, political history, arts, and encyclopedias. We have about 4,000 volumes at present; most of them are in Finnish, English, or Hungarian. Due to the size of the room, we cannot consider large procurements, however, our stock is on the increase, for instance by the latest translations into Hungarian or Finnish manuals. Our services are still provided in the traditional form (reading on the spot, borrowing). The maximum borrowing period is 1 month.
In the periodicals room, a wide range of Finnish dailies and magazines is available for visitors. Any of the volumes of Helsingin Sanomat earlier than a month can be taken away. The CD collection of the Library, comprising nearly 300 items, properly represents Finnish classical music and composers, but we also have popular music, jazz, and rock CDs. The more than 100 video cassettes provide an excellent overview of contemporary Finnish movie art.
There is also a computer with an Internet connection available for visitors. The library can be used and books can be borrowed free of charge.
Opening hours: Monday to Friday from 8.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.
